Woke up Sunday morning having made plans with Sue, a friend from work, and her little boy, Jack, to go Morpeth dance festival. I did a bit of cleaning and put a wash in the machine, K was still snoring in his pit as I organised myself for the day.
Second wash in and other stuff hung out in the sunshine to dry K rose from the pit. I couldn't help myself and nagged him again about his inability to wipe the sides down after making a sandwich.... blah blah blah! Coffee and fag having woken him up he declined my offer to join us for the day and went off in search of Guinness and ciggies.
Bimbling round the trailer waiting for Sue to call I got an unexpected and pleasant phone call from Jo Templey as normal its been some time since we contacted each other, but Jo knew people who were doing a presentation at the fare so we agreed to pick her up, on the way - killing two birds with one stone. Since I last saw Jo she has put on some weight... but I believe this is fairly normal at 6 months pregnant...

Just as Sue, Jack and I were leaving K turned up, he had popped out earlier to "get himself some Guinness and ciggies. I asked him to keep an eye on the washing and we left him to his Elvis CD's and DVD's.
The day itself was hot and sunny and we soon realised that all the jumpers and cardigans were totally unnecessary, we located the "Bare Toed Company" and met up with Jo's friends and colleagues.
Ice lollies and hot doughnuts purchased and we settled our selves in front of the trapeze ready to be entertained.

We were not disappointed. Bare Toed does shows for kids and we were taken on a fanciful journey by three caterpillars through the seasons.

Their interpretation was a delight, the kids cheered and clapped as the girls danced around the stage with scarfs, leaves and snow ball (pompoms). As Rachel flew through the air upside down one little boy screamed out in delight "See mam, she's doing it with her eyes shut!"

At the end of the show everyone was invited onto the stage area for a workshop in dance, trapeze and music.

It was a great afternoon and Jack was more than ready to do some dancing when it was suggested we join Jo and Annabel in a dance workshop. We spent the rest of the afternoon "Baby boggy-ing", a simple way for parents to interact with their kids. Again there was lots of emphasis on scarfs and touching and dancing - I loved it.
Sue, Jack and I rounded off our day with a meal in a local pub, just as the meal came the heavens opened and the rain poured forth, bringing a natural but needed end to the day. Sue dropped me off in the trailer park, attempting to dodge the floods and kids in Wellington boots playing in the water.
Obviously as we pulled up outside the trailer I was slightly less than amazed to see the washing still outside. I stormed into the trailer to find K asleep on the sofa surrounded by Guinness cans and CD's fast asleep - I stropped, he went back to sleep. I wiped up the mess from sandwiches made and retired to the little bedroom to lick my proverbial hurts.
The heavens opened more and the water levels rose, feeling the need to do something stupid I donned my Wellington boots and went and played with the kids in the rain - "eee missus your mad" they chanted at me and joined in as we did battle in puddles. Why when your standing up to your knees in water, clothes drenched and hair a mess do you feel your most liberated and free - I don't think I've laughed that hard for ages.
